Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Noida-based Dixon Technologies, on Monday entered into a partnership to manufacture Nokia smartphones in India for HMD Global, a Finnish mobile phone manufacturer. The company is made up of the mobile phone business that Nokia sold to Microsoft in 2014, then bought back in 2016.

HMD began marketing Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones on 1 December 2016.

Atul B. Lall, Chairman and Managing Director, Dixon, said in media statement --

We are sure that with their vision and stringent industry-leading processes, combined with our expertise in manufacturing, we will be able to bring a range of Nokia smartphones to customers

Dixon's wholly-owned subsidiary, Padget Electronics, has also signed an agreement with Motorola for manufacturing of smartphones. The products will be manufactured at Padget's manufacturing facility situated at Noida, Uttar Pradesh,” the company had said in an exchange filing.

Dixon is also a supplier to Apple Inc.

Padget Electronics is one of the five Indian companies which have been approved to receive incentives for incremental production of mobile phone handsets under the Centre’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
